Our client based in East Swindon is looking for a Materials Planner to work in their wire and cable division.
The role involves planning and managing the supply of raw materials for our Wire and Materials production, ensuring that inventory levels are optimised to both deliver great customer service and control cash flow, in a rapidly changing market environment.
Key tasks and skills of the job:
Responsible for the management of raw material, WIP inventory:
Using an advanced MRP & scheduling system (i2 Factory Planner) to assess required purchases.
Liaising with internal and external vendors.
Raising purchase orders and expediting as required.
Monitoring vendor service levels and contributing to supplier reviews.
Working with the production teams to ensure that our on-site raw materials are accurately inventoried and any discrepancies are appropriately dealt with.

Particular skill / aptitude required:
Numerate with an ability to analyse data and propose improvements.
Experience of using MRP systems in a production environment.
Ability to use spreadsheets to a high degree.
Good communication skills and an ability to work cross-functionally as well as within a team environment.
Be prepared to learn new skills.
Be flexible on working hours and overtime.
Demonstrate acceptable timekeeping and attendance.
Experience required:
Previous experience of working in a similar role
Proven track record of inventory reduction
