Their Australian office is a growing organisation that has a unique culture of empowerment and a strong belief in the personal development of employees at all levels of the business.Sales Managers are responsible for leading a team of Sales Executives selling conference and seminar delegate places to senior level executives of public and private sector companies. They are expected to maintain a level of personal sales whilst overseeing all people management issues within their team (recruiting, training, motivating and performance management) and providing significant strategic input at all levels of the organization in order to support the business.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Sales Manager role comprises of three main areas of responsibility:1.Personal and Teams Sales2.People Management3.Business StrategyPersonal and Team SalesSales Managers are expected to lead by example and maintenance of high Personal and Team sales figures is key to this role. This is important as a motivator for team members and also for feeding back valuable information about products into the Sales Director.People ManagementThis is a very important part of the role and includes the following:Hiring to maintain the designated team sizeTraining all new staff on sales skills and product knowledgeDesigning and running an on going skills development program for all team membersOn going coaching of all staff in the team both experienced and newMentoring staff on product knowledge for all new productsTaking dummy pitches on all new products before the event goes on saleEnsuring that the sales people clearly understand the benefits of an event and can express these via value proposition and SPIN sellingConducting timely performance appraisalsEnsuring that each individual is meeting sales targetMaintaining strong and constructive relationships with production, sponsorship, marketing, customer services, financeMonitoring key controls for all team members (e.g. call rates, call times, internet usage, quality of email correspondence, quality of pitching)Collection of sales leadsMaintaining team discipline and a strong work ethic Termination of weak performersInspiring and motivating team members to perform at their bestStrategic ManagementClose communication with Sales Director regarding market intelligence and sales strategyPersistently searching for market intelligence relating to current and future potential productsPartnering with the Sales Director to design overall promotional strategy on known/repeat eventsResource management - ensuring that the right people are selling the right products for the right length of timeContinual tracking of the forward schedule to anticipate upcoming sales requirements and factoring in holidays, sickness, anticipated departures etcCommunication with the Sales Director and production on future product development - uncovering new topics and new business opportunitiesOngoing communication with the Sales Director, marketing, sponsorship and production on live campaigns and adjustments that might need to be madeBehaviors and Skills RequiredExperience of successful use of some form of structured sales process, either B2B or B2CSome previous management (or leadership) experience of managing or leading peopleEvidence of a high degree of infectious personal energyEvidence of personal discipline.
