We’re currently looking for a new Strategic Project Manager to champion significant further growth in one of our areas of greatest reputation emergency public health. The roleReporting directly to the Humanitarian Director and working closely with the senior technical specialists and regional programme staff, you’ll develop long-term vision and action planning to achieve sustained growth of Oxfam’s world-class emergency WatSan and Public Health work and capacity.. You’ll work out of our Oxford HD, and across the international programme, to build on existing initiatives and support innovation to achieve our goal. You’ll liaise with our Campaigns & Policy Department, Programme Policy Team, Regional Advisors and other affiliates to create a united vision, strategy and approach. As a senior member of Oxfam’s Humanitarian Department, you’ll be an authority on humanitarian response and expected to offer senior leadership to Oxfam’s humanitarian mission, and to have capability to work on occasional humanitarian reactive programme and policy assignments. You’ll also manage our team of Humanitarian Desk Officers.What we are looking forWith proven analytical and planning skills, and demonstrable command of strategic project management, you’ll join Oxfam confident of influencing the organisation from the offset. You’ll be a consummate persuader and negotiator, understanding how to work collaboratively (rather than independently) to achieve goals and impact. Your knowledge of the international humanitarian sector will be second to none and you’ll be comfortable advising staff on the appropriate legal and institutional frameworks. A proactive response to humanitarian emergencies is vital, so you’ll have considerable field experience in emergency and developmental work and a sound understanding of Oxfam’s approach to these crises. What’s more, you’ll need excellent interpersonal skills to develop valuable working relationships over a number of sectors and a strong background in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
