Description: This job is working for a small web design and marketing consultancy based in Leicester who have been trading since 2000. Operating a team of 10 which is loosely split 50:50 into technical and creative staff they are looking to expand their creative team by taking on board a graduate designer. This role is a great opportunity for a recent graduate to gain industry experience in a small business where the job holder will be given a great deal of autonomy and creative freedom. The learning curve will be steep and this job will allow junior designers to develop their skills in dealing directly with clients, managing expectations, planning and developing campaigns and ultimately building and strengthening their portfolio. The ideal applicant will have a degree in graphic design or new media and will demonstrate a sound knowledge of current industry trends and approaches and a real passion for creative design. A good knowledge of basic industry software, Flash, Photoshop or illustrator etc is prerequisite as is a strong interest in the internet (applicants may be asked to showcase their own website, previously designed pages or myspace page etc). The starting salary is modest but this job is very much an opportunity to gain vital experience in the highly competitive design field and the remuneration package is complimented by an informal, relaxed working environment and a company who hold ‘Investors in People’ status. The business is interested in recent graphic design or new media graduates with some post graduate work experience or current students due to graduate in 2007 who are looking to move straight into work after university. This job may be suitable for a ‘gap year’ student who can demonstrate a strong academic record and excellent portfolio.
