Description: Our client is a medium sized, family owned, traditional main contracting company. The firm can trace its history back to the 20th Century, when it started as a small builder in the Poplar and West Ham area. It was incorporated in 1929 and currently operates from its Head Office site in Stratford, East London on the border of the Prestigious Olympics site.The company undertakes a wide variety of construction work for a varied clientele, ranging from Local Authorities and Housing Associations to Private developers, Hospital Boards and Schools. The company also carries out its own speculative property developments.Contract values typically range from £50,000 - £20,000,000 and will take place in Central, Greater London and the North and Eastern Home Counties.ObjectiveThe successful candidate will be joining an established business development department, with the aim of enhancing and further progressing the firms business development objectives.My Client prides itself in offering long term career opportunities for the right candidates. Training is provided where necessary and Career Development Programmes are established as an important part of the Companies Management philosophy.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Marketing & Development Director, the successful candidate will provide direct and indirect marketing assistance. The Business Development Assistants main role will be to build upon the current departments existing functions and to increase the level of marketing activity, linked to the business plan objectives.The following headings set out the broad range of responsibilities;Data entry and management of existing marketing database.Maintain existing and build new client relationships.Source new contacts and leads from industry planning data, trade journals and European Journal information formats.Source & secure construction tendering opportunities.Source & secure “Partnering contract” opportunities.Assist the development of marketing objectives & strategies, as part of one year strategic plans.Prepare Pre-tender Qualification Questionnaire submissions, for OJEU and direct enquiries.Visit prospective clients and attend pre-tender interviews where relevant.Prepare internal marketing material and presentation material.Assist the management of the company web site.General Public Relations and company profile related duties.Candidate ProfileThe position is based at the Head Office in Stratford but travel to new and existing clients and consultants will be required throughout the London region.The right candidate will ideally have previous business development and marketing experience. They should be professional in their approach when dealing with existing and potential new clients. The role best suits a very personable individual who is able to mix and gell with people but at the same time is self motivated and able to meet targets and objectives.Ideal technical skills include typing, Microsoft Office package experience including, Word, Excell, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher / Quark Express.A good telephone manner and general self confidence are essential elements for the role.My Client has a good reputation within the industry and it is this that we seek to maintain and further develop.Salary & BenefitsWith 6 weeks holiday entitlement this is a company who like to treat their employee's well.
