Description: Progressive are recruiting for a hugely successful, multi national, financial institution in Cardiff for an Oracle DBA/ Unix Systems Administrator. This is a fantastic and very varied role where you would look after a multitude of different tasks every day. In the first instance, you would be responsible for development and analysis of performance team work, configuration of Windows and Unix environments and DBMS and system administration skills. You would help to analyse and rectify any database errors, provide on site analysis of SQL and system logs and communicating these to the team and client. With regards to planning, accurate environment creation is key along with maintenance of development and testing environments, capacity planning, hardware configuration, consultancy to clients regarding environment set ups. Along ,with this you would be required to adapt 3rd party tools to integrate with and support development, deployment and testing. The essential skills needed for this role are Windows, Unix/Linux/AIX operating systems, database management systems, namely Oracle, MSSQL. Desirable skills include C++/Java as well as being certified OCA or MCP or both.
