Description: This excellent opportunity is being offered by a Clinical Trial Support Organisation that has an excellent track record supporting the conduct of clinical trials. They are seeking an experienced Oncology Research Nurse (Band 7) to work 2 days a week at the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit within a major Central London hospital. JOB ROLE: The Oncology Research Nurse is an independent practitioner working within a small team of research nurses and data managers. He/she will take responsibility for the coordination and management a number of oncology early phase clinical trials covering a variety of tumour types in Gastro Intestinal Oncology.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES include:*Education of patients and colleagues.*Coordinating the care of patients on trials.*The collection and preparation of biological samples.*Collecting trial data.*The administration of experimental agents and monitoring the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities. *Developing specialized skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials, the therapies and the relevant disease sites. *Providing advice and information and acting as the patient's advocate.QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:*Registered Nurse Part 1,2,12 with substantial clinical research experience gained from a CRO, Pharmaceutical or Healthcare organisation.*Substantial post registration nursing experience.*Experience of working with oncology/haematology patients.*Experience of acting as a patient advocate*Proven knowledge of ICH GCP guidelinesPERSONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:*Proven effectiveness as working as part of a multidisciplinary team*The ability to work under own initiative and prioritise workload.*The ability to take charge and delegate duties.*Good communication skills, oral and written.*Sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials*Computer literate*Enthusiastic and willing to work flexible hours when needed.Fforde is a uniquely specialised recruitment agency/business for the pharmaceutical, clinical research and biotechnology sectors.
