Our Client is a leading materials science company that provides high performance materials, chemistry and technology solutions to the electronics and surface finishing industries worldwide. They have the requirement for a Product / Process Compliance / Health & Safety Advisor. Duties include Risk Assessments, contract control, safety data sheets, REACH, training of production and office staff and new starter H&S inductions. This is an excellent opportunity for those who may be seeking the next step towards Health & Safety Management.Accountabilities:*Co-ordination of legislative requirements for the control of substances*Maintenance of Information Systems, to ensure compliance with local, regional and national specific legislation for both external and internal customers*Provide and maintain healthy and safe working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all employees.*To ensure compliance with the requirements of REACh and RoHS. To co-ordinate the provision of information from substance suppliers and down stream to customer base. Maintain communications with customers by providing information on request and proactively, using REACh, RoHS and IMDS data bases.*To prepare and maintain systems for the provision of information for both internal and external customers, through internal safety information, Safety Data Sheets, Tremcards and labeling requirements*Co-ordinate the going maintenance of EMS and OHSAS systems, through auditing and monitoring, in respect to waste management, packaging waste, permit control and hygiene monitoring. *To run personal and static environmental samples for chemicals and noise and where necessary advise on design of control systems. Monitoring of processes under EA, to ensure compliance with consents.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREDThe applicant should have a chemistry background (not essential), preferably having worked in the industry. Holder of a NEBOSH qualification and/or certificates of competence in the core subjects are preferable but not essential as training can be provided. Needs to be self motivating, capable of making independent business decisions and have good communication skills. IT skills are essential. Candidates require a good understanding of ISO 14001, 18001 and 9001. The role will involve covering the Company's premises in South Kent, so travel will feature predominantly in this role. You will also be required to travel to Scotland, Ireland and Europe as required.
