About the RoleAt Dyson you’ll work in teams who get involved in the complete life-cycle of a product from concept derivation and detail design through to prototyping, testing and ensuring a smooth transition to the production process. You’ll be based at our headquarters in Malmesbury, Wiltshire which is easy commuting distance from Bath, Bristol, Swindon and Cheltenham.You’ll need:A sound understanding of fundamental physical theories and general engineering principles.The ability to work from either a verbal or written brief.A creative, but practical approach to problem solving and design development.The ability to research background information to enable informed decisions to be made.To be able to validate designs, deciding what testing is required, propose testing methods, design simple test rigs and evaluate the results all crucial in proving a design.An appreciation of a range of manufacturing techniques, particularly the design constraints imposed by injection moulding, as well as a sound working knowledge of materials and processes.An understanding of the impact of design changes upon other departments within Dyson.An ability to simplify assembly methods throughout the design process.The ability to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and co-ordinate with the work of others.To be committed and flexible to ensure deadlines are always achieved and the design is right first time.About the personWe’re looking for brilliant design minds who share our passion for making everyday things work better. You’ll be a team player who’s keen to learn from others and share your experiences too. You’ll be degree educated (2:1 or higher) in an engineering/industrial/product design principle.
