Description: Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, ATE Engineer: We are currently recruiting for a Production Engineer (Functional ATE) to work in our clients Electronic Production Engineering Department reporting to the Production Engineering Manager / Production Manager in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB AND ITS PRIMARY OBJECTIVES FOR THE ATE PRODUCTION ENGINEER:This position reports directly to the Production Engineering Manager as part of the Production Engineering Team.The primary role as a member of the Production Engineering team is to provide the Wootton Bassett manufacturing facility with support for all functional automated test equipment (ATE) processes and other associated activities. Also of equal importance is to liase with Product Engineering and Engineering Services to provide design engineering support for these processes.MAIN DUTIES FOR THE PRODUCTION ENGINEER:* Provide programming, fixturing, maintenance and process support for all automated test process equipment (ATE) and associated manufacturing activities at the Wootton Bassett facility* Liaison with production supervisory staff and operatives at the Wootton Bassett facility, including involvement and support for continuous improvement initiatives* Liaison with USA based Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Services staff, in particular for DFM/DFT feedback* General Production Engineering duties required for process support and documentation* To keep knowledge abreast of latest developments in manufacturing and test processes applicable to activities* Responsibility for safe working practices, in accordance with company Health & Safety policy* Act as trainer and mentor for othersOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PRODUCTION ENGINEER:* Perform other adhoc duties as required by managementGUIDELINES - (knowledge, skills & abilities)Knowledge:Educated to DEGREE / MSc / HND level or equivalent in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, telecommications engineering or a similar discipline.Experience of process engineering in a high quality electronic manufacturing environment is an advantage.Proven ATE experience in some or all the following specialised areas:* Programming in C and Visual Basic* Functional ATE programming using GPIB instrumentation (General Purpose interface bus instrumentation)* Audio Precision test equipment programming or video precision manufacture* Digital audioSome experience with ICT (in circuit test) is also desirable specifically:* Teradyne Z1800* Flying Scorpion FLS-810D (using bed of nails)* Boundary Scan and ISPSkills* Excellent electrical / electronic system fault-finding* Electronic assembly (e.g. soldering, SMT rework)* Must be computer literate and have good familiarity with all commonly used MS-Office programsAbilities* Must be able to communicate well at all levels* To provide timely, innovative solutions to manufacturing process problemsPRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PRODUCTION ENGINEER:Occasional overseas travel may be required, in particular to visit USA facilitiesVery occasionally, extended hours may be expected in order to solve urgent production problems.APPLY:If you are interested and would like to apply, please submit an up-to-date CV in word format (.doc) to Hayley Schwab at: hschwab@piperrec.comAlternatively by post:FAO Hayley Schwab1st Floor OfficePiper Recruitment LtdKing William House13 Queen SquareBristolBS1 4NT.Please specify your preferred salary and interview/start availability.
