To satisfy this increasing demand, we urgently need self-starting individuals, innovative engineers who will thrive in our fast-moving and challenging environment, and who will welcome the responsibility, appreciation and reward which their commitment generates.Our JobsThe vacancies cover the full spectrum of substation design, application and condition assessment engineering, at voltages between 11kV and 400kV, for both Utilities and Contractors, and including the power T&D, oil and gas, offshore, wind-farm and other renewable sectors. Typical projects encompass overhead transmission lines, underground and submarine cables and all types of primary and secondary plant found within substations: power and instrument transformers; HV circuit breakers and isolators; surge arresters; control and protection; etc. Working sometimes on your own but more often as a member/leader of a multi-disciplined project team, you will be responsible for the engineering itself, or for the management and/or approval of that engineering. Coordination with other engineering disciplines mechanical and civil and regular Customer/Client contact, feature in most of these roles, as does report-writing. From time-to-time there are also opportunities for visits, or short-term assignments, overseas.YouYou must have: an HNC or higher engineering qualification, together with hands-on exposure to an engineering environment; commercial awareness; and an understanding of QHSE and CDM issues. Please do not apply without at least these attributes.You should have: at least associate membership of the IET (IEE); and exposure either to the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) in the UK, or to an UK-influenced electricity network overseas. These attributes should lead to an interview.You could have: a degree in Electrical Engineering; full membership of the IET; spent the majority of your work experience with a utility, contractor or consultant within the ESI; the competency to fulfill the above Roles with the minimum of supervision; special knowledge of Primary Plant (transformers and/or switchgear), Secondary Systems (control and protection), HV Cables, Overhead Lines, Network Planning, Scheme Development or System Analysis.These attributes will give you an advantage.Primarily, we are looking for engineers who can step into these roles with the minimum of supervision; however, new graduates, or engineers with transferable skills, who require training, and senior engineers with the competence and experience to lead and manage others, are also strongly encouraged to apply.Your RewardsThese are excellent opportunities to join the professionals, market-leaders at the cutting edge of their trade.
