Description: ROLE PURPOSE: System Design activities for the development of Mission Planning products.Essential* Develop design specifications under guidance and carry out design activities in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards.* Carry out standard technical investigations and analyses to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for the design of improvements.* Specify tests within a clearly defined area and evaluate and make recommendations based on results, including making suggestions to improve test/diagnosis processes* Assess implications of data analysis and formulate initial conclusions to more senior engineers to take necessary decisions or actions.* Supply a technical interface with suppliers/customers at a detailed level, ensuring the effective provision of support to customers in assigned aras in line with customer requirements and programme plans, as well as the rapid resolution or escalation of problems and issues.* Support the development of solutions to technical issues and process improvement opportunities as a member of a project team.* Plan, deliver and monitor assigned tasks, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.Ideal* Keep up to date in relevant technical areas and develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services, seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve own practices* Contribute to engineering team decisions to support the effective performance of the team.PROBLEM SOLVING CHALLENGES* Support the development of complex products to demanding customers* Support the delivery of solutions within challenging timescales* Working effectively in a multi-disciplined, multi-national team * Supporting delivery of robust solutions to for an evolving product rangePERFORMANCE INDICATORS* Effective working relationship established with team members and customers* Effective support to the delivery of innovative design solutions* Programme of work well controlled and communicated* Delivery of projects to customer's satisfaction* Positive (enthusiastic and energetic) approach to new tasks* Demonstration of an enthusiasm to learn and contribute to the teams performanceSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEGeneral:-* Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline* Relevant experience* Analytical and problem solving skills* Understanding of the system design process * Practical experience of algorithm development* Good verbal and written communicationsDue to the specific nature of this role, candidates holding current SC clearance are highly desirable. Successful candidates who do not hold current clearance shall be requested to undergo National Security Vetting procedures. Please be aware that the Security Vetting process can take several weeks depending on the level required.
